I have selected Quizlet.com as the website for the students to study the Elements of Art. There are many element of art tests on this site, so make sure you see my login name of KYart. By the way, the picture with my login name shows a cat. :) If all works well, below this text, you should see a set of flashcards that I created at Quizlet. Flashcards are a great way to quiz yourself on your knowledge of the elements. If you notice in the bottom, right corner, there is a drop down menu that asks you to choose a study mode. Quizlet offers different ways to study besides the flashcards. Several students like the scatter mode! Basically, it is a matching game where the term and definition are scattered across the page and you have to match them up. It keeps up with your time, so it becomes like a game to see who gets the fastest score. Enjoy!
Welcome back to the start of a brand new school year! I can't say for certain for all, but I suspect most art teachers begin their year with the study of the Elements of Art. I know that I do! The elements are the basic visual symbols we use to create art....such as line, color, shape, texture, etc. These elements are used across all the art processes of drawing, painting, printing, sculpting, and working in ceramics. Most students want to dive into making art, but for them to be more successful, I want them to have a basic understanding of the elements. I always tell the students that when they turn 16 years old, they will not receive a driver's license in the mail. They will have to study the manual for the written test and then practice driving, before they earn their very own driver's license. We are still in the manual right now, but it won't be long before we will be "on the road" in art. I have selected Quizlet.com as the website for the students to study the Elements of Art.
